The increase in the enrollment of students who are part of the Target Population of Special Education (PAEE) in Brazilian basic education has intensified the debate on initial teacher education for working in inclusive educational settings. Despite legal advances, challenges persist in bridging academic education and the demands of teaching practice, particularly regarding the development of competencies to address diversity. In this context, the Institutional Teaching Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBID) stands out as a public policy that brings universities and public schools closer together, fostering educational experiences in real-world teaching contexts. This study aimed to understand how the Interdisciplinary PIBID Subproject involving the Pedagogy and Physical Education programs at the University Center of Santa Fé do Sul (Unifunec) contributes to the development of teaching competencies for Inclusive Education. This is a qualitative, descriptive study conducted as an experience report. The activities were carried out in three municipal public elementary schools (early years), involving pre-service teachers from the Pedagogy and Physical Education programs in providing pedagogical support to PAEE students, predominantly students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The analysis showed that the systematic integration of pre-service teachers into everyday school life, combined with collaborative planning, reflection on practice, and interdisciplinary work, fostered the development of competencies related to learning mediation, flexible pedagogical strategies, collaborative work, and the construction of a professional teaching identity. It is concluded that the subproject provided an educational environment capable of enhancing the preparation of future teachers for Inclusive Education and highlighted interdisciplinarity as a relevant strategy for developing teaching competencies during initial teacher education.
